Character Spotlight: Oliver Crane

As we move toward the release of GOLD, we're profiling some of GOLD's main characters. This week: Oliver Crane.

Oliver Crane (played by Gilmore Girls’ Alan Loayza) is the British Goblins & Gold team captain and coach. Highly charismatic, charming and embarrassingly good-looking, Oliver is a top-level celebrity in England, thanks to the three Gold Medals his team have won at the World G&G Championships, and his long-running BBC sitcom, Me and John Ronald Reuel. He’s been spotted at parties and London clubs and/or romantically linked to Lucy Pinder, Sophie Howard, Kylie Minogue, three of the Spice Girls and Princess Charlotte of Monaco, all in the last year. According to an interview with RolePlaya magazine, however, Oliver confirms at this point in his life his bride is Goblins & Gold, and he’s happily married indeed.

His relationship with his team, on its face, is one of tightest unity. He, Paul Hokes and Martha Thistlethwait all live and train together in a completely remodeled 16th century castle on a sprawling estate several hours north of London. However, since his teammates do not enjoy (or at least do not embrace) the same level of fame as their captain, it has been rumored that there is great tension beneath the team’s tranquil surface.

As a player, Oliver is the dirtiest, fiercest of competitors. He’s not above bending the rules to gain the upper hand - he will exploit any loophole to gain dominance in the game. His sanctioned character, who has dominated the world G&G circuit for nearly a decade, is the half-orc warrior Hassleton “One-Eye” Skullgouger:
